Friend of a Friend Gallery (FOAF) is happy to announce an upcoming exhibition by Alexander Richard Wilson, Fire! Having recently moved from the Midwest, Richard Wilson’s practice has been greatly influenced by the earthly conditions he has witnessed since moving to Denver, Colorado.
In reviewing the past 6 months of life, Richard Wilson has created a collection of work that reflects upon the conditions experienced by the Colorado Citizens during the 2021-2022 winter season. Colorado, Denver and it’s environs. has seen various climate-related disasters and emergencies over the past year. The loss of homes due to forest fires, the rise in the cost of living, and other recent shifts have social, environmental, emotional repercussions. There have been observable changes in the depth of allowable experiences, and a sense of disconnection in the collective understanding of these grave events. Fire! illuminates these happenings and chronicles these shifts. Wilson in turns mourns the losses of the American West, and through painting, depicts its landscape with marked adoration.
